Champagne and Red Rose Wedding Cake

Hello fellow cake lovers! Haha! I really want to say "Cake Lovers UNITE," straight up Power Rangers style!
Anyhooooo....last weekend was fantastic! I got all the stuff on my to-do list done, which doesn't usually happen. I also managed to deliver an absolutely gorgeous wedding cake to a beautiful venue in Spanish Fort, Alabama. The place is called 5 Rivers Delta. Christina Olson and Andy Barry were married outside on a huge pier and their reception was inside a wood-paneled room with massive windows for walls, which overlooked the delta.
The hubs and I set up the cake together and we were both thinking "Why didn't we get married here?!?!?!" But we quickly remembered how fantastic our wedding was, in my grandparents' backyard in the country. I meeeean, really. You can't beat that.

Let me tell you about this cake! Christina and I actually had some opposing views at first when it came to the design. She said she liked simple over the phone, so before we met in person I designed a beautiful 3-tiered round, champagne-colored cake with black ribbon trim and one really big, show-stopping red sugar rose between the top and middle tier. Simple, yet dramatic.
Christina wanted a square cake with black piping on each off-set tier and lots and lots of fresh red roses and rose petals. The bride got what she wanted...obviously!
But I have to say, I was like a proud momma when I dropped this thing off at 5 Rivers. I fell head over heels in love with...cake! Again!
Thank you, Christina, for letting me be a part of your special day and for putting your faith in me. Have a very happy honeymoon and many many blissful years of marriage!
With love,
Ev
